Aloha all,
Small update to my favorite gear and software:
- I only own one camera now: The Fujifilm X-H2S.
- My favorite podcast app is now Mimir.
- My go-to calendar app on both iOS and macOS: BusyCal.
Other than that, no huge changes from June!
Aloha all,
Small update to my favorite gear and software:
Other than that, no huge changes from June!
An update to the tools I use:
To start the new year with actually writing an article, I wanted to share with you the tools (both software, hardware, and some miscellaneous items) that I have personally been using to get stuff done (amongst other things): https://www.jeromekoehler.com/my-gear/.
I'll continue to add my reasoning behind my choices and update the list as my preferences continue to change.
A few of these links are Amazon affiliate links as I plan to write more reviews + provide my feedback and those help offset the costs of the items and the hosting!
I recently was a guest on my friend Patrice’s Podcast, Foodie Flashback, and had a blast discussing different foods and my history in regards to preparing my own food. Good times!

I created a small time lapse the of the construction of set 75099: Rey's Land Speeder. Due to the low difficulty and small number of pieces, this set was constructed rather quickly…hopefully I will get some more time to put together the Millennium Falcon or the Tie Carrier.

If you wondered how to export your health data from the Health app on iPhone, Chris Giordano from www.osxdaily.com has written a nice little article that details this process step by step:

As part of a group of IT professionals, we all are usually on the same page when we recommend not to install the latest beta of iOS, iPad OS, or macOS. Even though it looks like everything works well, there are usually compatibility issues, constant crashing, data loss, and a plethora of other issues that crop up and can take down that mission critical system you installed said software on. If you did not heed the warnings and wanted to live on the wild side, this support article from Apple details steps on how to get back to your current, non-beta operating system (I also hope that a backup was made before you made the jump!):
iOS - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203282
macOS - https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/unenroll

TD;LR Summary: A great, affordable USB-C hub, that has most of what you need minus power passthrough and a built-in media card reader.
With the all of the different USB-C hubs I have purchased over the past, I have begun to rely mostly on two different companies for my gear: OWC and Anker. In this weekly pick, I will give some feedback on the Anker USB-C Hub that I purchased due to my Satechi hub becoming hot enough to cook on (I might be exaggerating a bit)!
The Anker USB-C hub has three USB 3.0 Ports, 4K HDMI output, and an ethernet port! The only thing that this hub does not have is the power pass-through, more than likely leading to a much cooler running temperature. I have hooked up everything ranging from a media card reader to a 4K dell monitor to the hub and it has handled everything like a charm. I have also used Anker hub to hook my iPad Pro (the newer models rock a USB-C port) to troubleshoot an EdgeRouter on-site when I didn’t have my MacBook Pro with me.
The Japanese have some interesting cartoon characters in their country and Mameshiba(http://dogatch.jp/mameshibaworld/ "Link to Mameshiba's Site") is one of them. So, what is Mameshiba? It is a combination of both a soy bean and a dog. They released a little game for iOS that allows you to catch all the characters in the Mameshiba universe and each has this utterly cute saying. This was one of the more interesting quick reviews I have created just due to the type game and the music and sound-effects that are present.
Enjoy!
As you know, when running your business, time is money. This week’s pick is a tip that will save you, our awesome reader, a bit of time when resizing multiple columns inside of a finder window. To resize multiple columns at once, you will need to be in the column view (by clicking on the 3rd little view near the top left of the finder window or pressing CMD-3) before you can perform the task. Once you are in column view, hold down the option key, click on the edge of a column (see the attached screenshot for details on where to click), and drag to resize. Once you are done resizing the columns, let go of the option key and the edge of the column and, similar to magic, you are finished!
